Project Overview

At ERG Environmental Services, we are proud to be the trusted waste management partner for the NoHaz Household Hazardous Waste Program in Oakland County, Michigan. Since 2003, NoHaz has provided residents with a safe, convenient way to dispose of hazardous household materials, and we have played an integral role in making that mission a success.

In 2024 alone, we helped facilitate the collection of 513,065 pounds of hazardous waste from 3,733 participants across 15 communities. With over 64% of participants disposing of electronic or computer waste and 31% attending for the first time, we ensured that each event was executed smoothly and safely. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, with over 99% rating their experience as “Good” or “Excellent,” highlights our commitment to excellence.

Recycling

We prioritize reprocessing and reusing materials wherever possible to minimize environmental impact.

Stabilization

Certain hazardous substances are chemically treated to become inert and safe for disposal.

Autoclaving

Medical sharps and similar items are sterilized using steam disinfection to ensure they are rendered safe.

Energy Recovering

Some waste is blended into alternative fuels used in place of coal or oil in cement kilns, contributing to resource conservation.

Destructive Incineration

For waste that cannot be repurposed, we use thermal destruction at specialized facilities to eliminate hazards.

Landfill

Only non-treatable hazardous materials are sent to approved hazardous waste landfills.
