Operations Manager – Livonia, MI

 Job description 

 The Operations Manager manages plant operations including plant personnel and production schedules.  Serves as the coordinator and supports the overall preparedness and compliance of all Environmental, health, and safety requirements. Demonstrates effective leadership by communicating the organization’s vision and values to be carried out in the day-to-day activities throughout the facility.

Essential Functions:

Monitor effectiveness of productivity

Assure the ongoing development of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services as needed or identified.

Assess and communicate recommendations for utilization of space, space needs, equipment, personnel, and other resources as needed to meet facility needs.

Assist in the development and oversight of compliance requirements

Prepare and submit reports as necessary to any requiring department in an accurate and timely manner.

Defines performance objectives and metrics for the department/area(s).

Incorporates quality improvement data and data into departmental (s) goals.

Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises the functions and activities of facility personnel.

Adhere to and ensure facility complies with all employee OSHA requirements, RCRA Hazardous waste requirement and DOT Hazardous materials compliance.

Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal law and policies. Ensure maintenance of appropriate records.  Provide direction, supervision, and coaching to others.

Directs course of action on all management/human resource issues, transfers, hiring, terminations, professional development, performance appraisals, position description preparation, and counseling.

Maximize the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of plant operations and maintenance.

Number of Employees Supervised: 6-12 direct, 3-5 indirect

Minimum Requirements 

Education: Bachelor’s degree, or combination of training, certifications, and experience – preferred.


Minimum of 5 years’ environmental experience in a leadership role


Proficient in Microsoft Office, Strong communication skills (verbal and written).  Current EHS, environmental and waste management experience required.


  • DOT Hazardous materials training
  • RCRA Hazardous wastes training
  • Valid Driver’s License
