As reported by ServerWatch in the article “What Is E-Waste? What You Need to Know”, the rising tide of discarded electronics—commonly called e-waste—is one of the most urgent environmental challenges facing the world today.
E-waste includes a vast range of items—from everyday consumer gadgets like smartphones and MP3 players to large household appliances and even complex medical devices. With technology advancing rapidly and product life cycles growing shorter, the volume of e-waste has surged. In 2019 alone, a staggering 53.6 million metric tons of e-waste were generated globally, with only 17.4% of it officially recycled.
