As highlighted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in their resource hub “Hazardous Waste Resources for Tribal Nations in the Midwest,” Tribal Nations face unique challenges in hazardous waste management and can now access EPA tools to build tailored programs that meet their specific needs.
The EPA’s initiative provides guidance documents, regulatory summaries, and training materials to help tribal governments understand the framework and compliance requirements under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). These resources are designed to assist in the development and implementation of local hazardous waste programs, while maintaining environmental integrity and community health.
