As explained by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in their article “How to Safely Dispose of E-Cigarettes: Information for Individuals”, e-cigarettes and vaping devices contain batteries, nicotine, and other hazardous materials that require special handling. Throwing them in the trash can pose environmental and fire hazards.
The EPA recommends checking local hazardous waste collection programs and never placing e-cigarettes in recycling or household waste bins.
